Garrett Road Modernization Multimodal Project

Garrett Road is a major arterial road within Upper Darby Township, it has a high traffic volume which includes both vehicle and public transportation, particularly the SEPTA 101 and 102 trolley lines.  There is high pedestrian activity along Garrett Road due to the presence of two schools (Upper Darby High School and Beverly Hills Middle School), seven (7) trolley stations, the 69th Street terminal, and several commercial businesses along Garrett Road.  Additionally, redevelopment of the Bonner-Prendergast site as the new Delaware County College facility will further increase vehicle and pedestrian activity.

This project involves site improvements along Garrett Road from Lansdowne Avenue to Sherbrook Blvd.  It consists of plans that support safety improvements, accessibility enhancements, and traffic signal optimization on and along Garrett Road from Lansdowne Avenue to Sherbrook Boulevard.  This project is a partnership between PennDOT District 6-0, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), and Upper Darby Township.  It is a project that addressed safety improvements and accessibility enhancements.

The Garrett Road Modernization Multimodal Project was introduced to Council on June 18, 2025.
