Marion Minick, President

Biography

Marion B. Minick was elected President of Upper Darby Township Council on January 5, 2026. He grew up in Plymouth Meeting where he attended and graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Following graduation from high school, he first attended Montgomery County Community College, and then went on to Lincoln University, where he majored in history and graduated with honors.

Following his time at Lincoln University, Marion B. Minick worked as a teacher, a G.E.D. supervisor and instructor at the Temple University Center for Social Policy and Community Development, and as Therapeutic Support Staff or TSS.

From his first childhood job as a newspaper boy, Marion B. Minick’s greatest career dream was to be an entrepreneur and business creator. After various jobs out of college, he became the owner of one of the largest hat stores in the City of Philadelphia, selling both women’s and men’s hats, and his store also offered on-site hat cleaning and blocking. Years later, he co-founded and was Executive Director of a 501 c3 non-profit organization, specializing community arts and recreation. Today, he is a tea merchant with his own registered brand and sells products nationally.

Marion B. Minick is a District Leader for the Upper Darby Democrats, a regular volunteer at the local food bank, a member of Delaware County Black Caucus, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. Marion B. Minick lives in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby Township with his wife, Genevieve, a family doctor, their daughter, Océane, a UDSD student and their goldendoodle, Finn. When he is not serving the magnificently diverse residents of Upper Darby, he enjoys watching Philadelphia sports teams, gardening, proudly enhancing his UD property, reading, traveling, and listening to music.
