Hafiz Tunis Jr. is the Seventh District Councilman for Upper Darby and President of Township Council. Tunis grew up in the Bywood section of Upper Darby Township attending Bywood Elementary, Beverly Hills Middle School & graduating from Upper Darby Senior High school. While attending Upper Darby Highschool, he played 3 years of Varsity Lacrosse and he was the Technical Director for the school news also known as “UD Update.” Following graduation from Upper Darby Highschool, he studied Political Science at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his college career, he held many leadership positions, serving as the Chair of Student Affairs for the Student Government and President of Delta Chi Fraternity. He also was a member of the Feminist Alliance Club, Democratic Club, National Council of Negro Women, & The Inter-fraternal Council.

Following his time at East Stroudsburg University, he interned as a Constituent Service Advisor for the 164th legislative district of Pennsylvania and was later hired. Through the view of the Constituent Service Advisor, I was able to acknowledge and analyze the issues that the residents of Upper Darby Township face everyday.

Hafiz Tunis Jr. currently lives in the Bywood section of Upper Darby with his dog Mase and cat Sayge. When he is not serving the residents of Upper Darby, he enjoys watching Philadelphia sports teams, traveling and reading.
