Statement from Mayor Ed Brown on EMS Services in Upper Darby Township
Upper Darby, PA – In response to the rapidly evolving situation with Crozer Health and its impending closure of ambulance services, Upper Darby Township is taking immediate action to protect the health and safety of our residents.
“We believe the long-term solution for sustainable, high-quality EMS service lies in a regional approach among neighboring Delaware County communities,” said Mayor Ed Brown. “I have directed our Chief Administrative Officer and team to actively pursue this collaborative strategy, though we recognize it will take time to develop.”
In the interim, Upper Darby Township is working to implement an alternative EMS model to ensure there is no disruption in emergency services. The Administration has briefed Township Council on the urgent need to move forward independently, with the Township committing to share in the cost of providing reliable and responsive EMS coverage.
Additionally, we are coordinating closely with Delaware County EMS to bolster our capabilities during this transitional period. Further updates will be provided as plans are finalized.
“Our priority is clear—ensuring that Upper Darby residents continue to receive timely, life-saving emergency medical services without interruption,” said Mayor Brown.
