National Public Works Week

Honoring our Public Works Department

National Public Works Week is observed annually in the third week of May. 

We would like to acknowledge the Upper Darby Township Public Works Department for all of their hard work, dedication, and for the vital role they play in maintaining and enhancing our Township.

From reliable sewer systems to maintaining our playgrounds, repairing our roadways, to maintaining our athletic field lights. Their efforts play a key role in keeping our communities safe and healthy.

Fun Facts about our Public Works Department:


  • We maintain 120 miles of sanitary sewer lines and 100 miles of stormwater lines.
  • 121 traffic signals and 4,580 streetlights
  • We maintain and repair 122 miles of roadway
  • We pick up approximately 31,000 tons of trash and 3,700 tons of recycling from approximately 30,000 households every year
