Bonner-Prendie's Boys 5A State Championship Basketball Team Acknowledged by Upper Darby Township

Upper Darby Township Honored the Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast 2026 PIAA 5A Boys State Basketball Championship Team at the Wednesday, April 15th Township Council Meeting. 

Mayor Ed Brown acknowledged and paid tribute to the school’s first-ever State Championship in basketball and proclaimed, April 15, 2026, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast Boys Basketball Team Day.  

Head Coach Billy Cassidy’s Friars defeated West York High School on March 30th in Hershey, Pa to take home the title. B-P trailed by 1 at the half but buoyed by a 40-12 run in the second half they won the game going away.  

Bonner-Prendie went 23-6 overall and reached the semi-finals of the Philadelphia Catholic League.  

Junior guard, Korey Francis took home the Catholic League Most Valuable Player award as well as the Max Preps Pennsylvania State Player of the Year. Francis and fellow junior, Kam Jackson were both selected First Team All-Catholic.  

Bonner-Prendie athletics has been on quite a run of late. The Friar Football Team won the 2025 5A State Championship and the Baseball Team won the 2025 Philadelphia Catholic League Title.
