Upper Darby Township Launches Small Business Empowerment Hub

Upper Darby, Pa. — Upper Darby Township officially launched its Small Business Empowerment Hub on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Municipal Building, marking a significant step in strengthening local entrepreneurship and economic growth.

Among the attendees were Pennsylvania State Representatives Gina Curry and Heather Boyd, members of Township Council, and representatives from a wide range of businesses, both large and small.

The Hub is designed to support aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners by connecting them with experts who provide technical assistance. Services include business planning support, financial systems implementation, marketing and sales strategy development, digital presence enhancement, and staffing and operational guidance.

Mayor Ed Brown read a proclamation officially declaring February 20, 2026, as Small Business Empowerment Day in Upper Darby Township.

Rita LaRue, the Township’s Director of Community & Economic Development, welcomed attendees and delivered opening and closing remarks. Small business owner Georgia Galiatsatos of GG Treats shared her expertise alongside entrepreneur and CEO & Founder of EQALL Business Solutions, Holly Burrow.

The Upper Darby Community & Economic Development Department remains committed to creating and retaining successful small businesses that contribute to a strong, stable, and inclusive local economy.

In addition, a Small Business Grant Program will be introduced later this year as part of the Township’s continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurs.

The Township’s Comprehensive Plan highlights the importance of connecting neighborhoods to vibrant commercial districts. Small businesses play a critical role in achieving this vision by revitalizing communities, expanding the tax base, creating and retaining jobs, fostering community connections, and attracting visitors and investment.
