The Upper Darby Township Fire Department is proud to offer a Free Smoke Alarm Program to help keep our residents safe. Working smoke alarms save lives — and we’re here to make sure every home in Upper Darby Township has them.
If you live in Upper Darby Township and need a smoke alarm, we will provide and install one at no cost to you.
What the Program Includes
√ Free smoke alarms
√ Free installation by trained fire department personnel
√ No income requirements
√ No hidden fees
Our firefighters will ensure your smoke alarm is installed properly and located in accordance with fire safety best practices.
Who Is Eligible?
√ Live in Upper Darby Township
√ Own a residential property in the Township **
√ Have no smoke alarm, a non-working smoke alarm, or outdated smoke alarms
** As per ordinance, landlords are required to provide tenants with working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. If a tenant is unable to receive proper life safety protection from the landlord and requires a smoke alarm through this program, the landlord will receive a fire safety citation.
