Public Works Supervisor 



We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Public Work Supervisor where you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while contributing to Upper Darby Township’s success. Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, The Public Works Supervisor will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Public Works Department which involves supervising, assisting, scheduling, planning and performing the work of employees engaged in the construction, repair and maintenance of Township roads, highways, grounds, Township-owned buildings, parks and recreational facilities.  Responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations of the divisions within Public Works, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines and quality standards, responding to resident concerns or issues as assigned, ensuring timely and effective resolution., collaborating with supervisors and foremen from other Township departments on assigned projects, and following up on issues through to completion, maintaining clear communication with residents and ensuring satisfaction with the outcome. 

Qualified candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience performing construction and maintenance work, including some supervisory or lead maintenance experience. Applicants with the Construction Supervisor, Bituminous Field Technician, and Concrete Field-Testing Technician Penn DOT certifications will be given favorable consideration. Must have a thorough knowledge in the following areas, principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment review and evaluation, discipline, and the training of staff in work procedures, safety principles, practices, procedures, and equipment related to the work, and  techniques for dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and Township staff.  Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal rules, regulations and laws. Valid driver’s license.
