Public Works Assistant Director



 

We’re seeking an Assistant Director of Public Works to lead with vision, strategy, and innovation. Under the administrative direction of the Director of Public Works, the Assistant Director will assist in the management, planning, organizing, and directing of operations within the Department of Public Works. Responsibilities will include assigning and reviewing work of subordinate employees engaged in sanitation, sewer/storm water, street cleaning, vehicle maintenance, highway, road repairs, construction, electrical, and parks maintenance. The Assistant Director will assist the Director in establishing department policies, department budget, reviewing technical specifications and plans, draft bids, negotiate agreements, and oversee projects to assure they are completed in a timely manner. Take personal responsibility to provide exceptional customer service in order to promote and maintain a positive Township image, constructive working environment, and foster pride and professionalism in the workplace and community. Must have a working knowledge of unions. 

Qualified candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Ten (10) years of combined experience with municipal infrastructure, water distribution/treatment, sanitation, recycling, and /or streets maintenance. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Must have a thorough knowledge in the following areas, roadway maintenance and repair, storm water construction and maintenance, facility maintenance, NPDES reporting and compliance, and project management. Knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal rules, regulations and laws. Valid driver’s license.
