Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29, 5:30PM-7PM join us for the Fitness Court Park Draft Plan - Open House also here in the Township Municipal building: 100 Garrett Road. Provide community feedback on plans for a new Fitness Court and Park which would be located at 7000 Walnut Street. See renderings of the park plans as well as the proposed artwork for the Fitness Court mural. This project is made possible by a Community Development Block Grant and a grant from the National Fitness Campaign.


Upper Darby Township officially marked the completion of the newest segment of the Naylor’s Run Trail with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Friday, April 24. The newly opened Section 5A connects Garrett Road and Marshall Road, adding a quarter-mile stretch that enhances accessibility and connectivity within the township. Township officials and regional leaders gathered for the event, including Mayor Ed Brown, State Senator Tim Kearney (26th District), Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Delaware County Council Chair Richard Womack, and State Representatives Gina Curry and Heather Boyd. Members of Upper Darby Council were also in attendance, alongside representatives from the Township’s Recreation Department, Community and Economic Development team, Upper Darby Police Department, and Upper Darby Fire Department.

The addition of Section 5A reflects Upper Darby Township’s continued investment in the health, safety, and well-being of its residents. Designed as a welcoming and accessible public space, the trail features new lighting, benches, and trash receptacles to improve comfort and usability for visitors of all ages. Beyond recreation, the trail serves as a practical transportation link, providing a convenient route between Garrett and Marshall Roads. It also offers improved access to several nearby educational institutions, including Beverly Hills Middle School, Delaware County Community College’s Southeast Center, Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, and Upper Darby High School.

Residents are encouraged to visit and enjoy the new trail segment as part of the Township’s growing network of community spaces.
