About the Seminar: You don't have to be an Upper Darby Township resident. Everyone is FREE to register and to attend!

Upper Darby Township staff, housing counselors, bankers, and real estate professionals will serve as panelists throughout the seminar.

Mayor Brown is the Co-Chair of the Housing & Community Development Policy Committee for the African American Mayors Association (AAMA). Upper Darby Township recently received a grant from AAMA to provide education that helps residents prepare for homeownership.


Session Breakdown:

(Approximately one hour per session)

  1. Homeownership 101: What Does It Take to Purchase a Home?

  1. Down Payment Assistance Programs and Loan Options

  1. How to Choose a Lender & Getting Pre-Qualified

Lunch Break

  1. Home Maintenance, Taxes, and Warranties

  1. Appraisals and Home Inspections


Format:
Six one-hour sessions, including 30-minute presentations followed by 30-minute Q&A.

A one-hour lunch will be provided.

A limited amount of funding is available for childcare and transportation cost reimbursement. Please inquire for details.

Information will be provided at the seminar on the Upper Darby First-Time Homebuyer Program, funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant. The relaunched program reflects the Township’s continued commitment to economic inclusion, housing stability, and community development.
