Community Comes Together for a Successful "Walk and Talk with the Mayor" along Upper Darby's Historic Underground Railroad Trail!

Residents of Upper Darby gathered this past weekend to take part in a special "Walk and Talk with the Mayor" event, part of the nationwide Move With the Mayor initiative promoting healthy living and community engagement. The two and a half mile walk took place along Upper Darby’s historic Underground Railroad Trail, offering residents a unique opportunity to blend mental and physical wellness with a guided stroll through some of the Township's most significant heritage sites. The trail, rich with history and stories of courage and resilience, served as a powerful backdrop for meaningful conversations between all attendees.

Mayor Brown extends a heartfelt thank you to all the residents who came out in support of this inspiring event. The success of "Walk and Talk with the Mayor" is a reminder of the power of community, and we look forward to joining together once again for future Move With the Mayor Events. He would also like to recognize Mr. Robert Seeley, an skilled genealogist and Upper Darby history expert, for his exceptional and engaging guided tour for the residents.

Residents began the walk at Thornfield, an important and busy station on the Underground Railroad. A PHMC marker was dedicated in 2007 honoring the site.
