Women's History Month - Meaghan Wagner

Upper Darby Celebrates Councilor Meaghan R. Wagner, Esquire

Councilwoman Meaghan Wagner was elected to Upper Darby Township Council in 2021 and sworn into the position in January 2022 by the Honorable Kevin F. Kelly. She represents the 1st District of Upper Darby Township.

Wagner, an attorney, graduated from Temple Law in 2006 earning her juris doctorate, from Temple University in 2003 earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and Archbishop Prendergast High School in 1999 as the class valedictorian.

During her time in college, Wagner worked for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Bench Warrant Division, and moved onto the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office when she entered law school. Immediately after graduating law school and passing the bar exam, Wagner was sworn in as an assistant district attorney. She was the trial team leader for the late Honorable James F. Nilon, Jr. and was also a member of the narcotics unit. Overall, she spent nearly 15 years prosecuting criminal matters from homicides to narcotics to other various felonies and misdemeanors and has done hundreds of jury and non-jury trials.

Wagner is currently a solo practitioner with her own firm, Wagner Law, based out of Media, handling mainly criminal and family law matters. She is also the Executive Director for the Delaware County Republican Party.

Wagner is also a cancer survivor having defeated stage four Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma while a Junior in high school. Despite missing her junior year, through the help of her fantastic teachers, her family and teaching herself in the hospital, Wagner managed to graduate on time with her class.

Wagner is the oldest of 5 children, all of whom were raised in Drexel Hill. Wagner’s Mom and Dad still reside in Drexel Hill as well. Her father is former Upper Darby Councilman Tom Wagner. She has three nephews and two nieces. She is an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and is very proud of her roots in Upper Darby as well as her Irish heritage.
