Delco Alert - 7/8/22

Hi, This is Mayor Barbarann Keffer with some important updates for our community:

July is Parks and Recreation month and we have two great upcoming recreation programs to share:

The Upper Darby Youth Police & Fire Academy, which will be held from July 11-15th, this upcoming Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 12 noon each day at the Cardington Fire House. I am pleased to announce that the registration fee is waived for ALL registrants! Don’t miss this FREE camp for children entering grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. If you still wish to sign up, on site registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis at 8:30am on Monday, July 11th. Children will be instructed by members of the Upper Darby Police and Fire Departments, and Medics.  They will meet the K-9 team, and learn about fire fighting and fire prevention. A parent or guardian must sign the registration form which is available at www.upperdarby.org/recprograms

There is also a Bike with a Cop event on bicycle safety for children being held in Naylors Run Park on Tuesday, July 19th. Bicycles, helmets, and parent supervision is required. To register, email recreation@upperdarby.org or call 610.789.3656

Delaware County is hosting a one-day Job Fair on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Upper Darby Municipal Building, located at 100 Garrett Road. The County has a large number of open positions and is actively hiring staff for multiple departments and agencies. Participants should bring a copy of their resume and will have the opportunity to apply to positions in person during the fair.

In recent weeks, there have been many occurrences of gun violence in and around our community. Our hearts go out to all the victims of these crimes and their loved ones.

This is Mayor Barbarann Keffer wishing you a great weekend.
