DECLARATION OF DISASTER EMERGENCY DUE TO HURRICANE IDA

WHEREAS, on September 1, 2021, remnants of Hurricane Ida may cause injury, damage, and suffering to the persons and property Upper Darby Township and create a significant impact on municipal resources through, among other things, flooding, water damage and wind damage; and

WHEREAS, the event will endanger the health, safety, and welfare of a substantial number of persons residing in the Township and threatens to create problems greater in scope than the municipality may be able to resolve; and

WHEREAS, emergency management measures are required to reduce the severity of this disaster and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of affected residents in the Township;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DECLARED, by the Mayor of the Upper Darby Township, County of Delaware, Pennsylvania, that a disaster emergency is declared for the Township under 35 Pa.C.S.A. 7501 (b).

FURTHER, Upper Darby Township Emergency Management is directed to coordinate the activities of the emergency response, to take all appropriate action needed to alleviate the effects of this disaster, to aid in the restoration of essential public service, and to take any emergency response actions deemed necessary to respond to this disaster emergency.

STILL FURTHER, Upper Darby Township officials are authorized to act as necessary to meet the current exigencies of this emergency.

ADOPTED by the Mayor of Upper Darby Township, County of Delaware, Pennsylvania, this 1st day of September, 2021.
