Delco Alert - June 15, 2021

Hello, this is Mayor Barbarann Keffer with some important updates for the Upper Darby community:

As the last of the state-mandated Covid-19 restrictions are ending in our area, we are beginning to reopen. The Upper Darby Township Council Meeting that was previously advertised for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 16, at 7 pm via Zoom has been rescheduled to Wednesday, June 23 at 7 pm. It will be held in-person on the second floor of the Upper Darby Township Building, located at 100 Garrett Road. This meeting will also be broadcast live on YouTube. If you have any questions, please contact the Council Office at 610-734-7600 or

Over the next two weeks, there are multiple events happening that celebrate the rich diversity of our community. On Saturday, June 19, Upper Darby High School will be the site of a youth football camp for ages 8 to 14 led by Philadelphia Eagles player Rodney McLeod and his wife Erika McLeod from 8 am to 12 pm. Please register at The Juneteenth Observation and Community Fair will be held by Forum Philly and the Bywood Community Association from 11 am to 5 pm.

On Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27, Upper Darby Pride will be holding Pride Month events in multiple locations across the Township, including Sellers Library and Collenbrook United Church. Also on Sunday, June 27, UDTJ will host Upper Darby’s first Pride Festival from 12 pm to 6 pm at Upper Darby High School.

RHeading into July, the Upper Darby community is invited to join us on Friday, July 2, as we kick off Independence Day weekend with a fireworks display at the Upper Darby High School Baseball Field at 9:30 pm. This event is free to the public, and the rain date is Friday, July 9. Please note that the UDHS football stadium will not be open, and residents are welcome to watch the fireworks from the school parking lots.

Last but not least, it is my great pleasure to announce the return of the Upper Darby International Festival for 2021. This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, October 2, from 1 pm to 5 pm, and the rain date is Sunday, October 3. This event is shaping up to be a fantastic multicultural celebration of Upper Darby for what we represent: the world in one place.

This is Mayor Barbarann Keffer, wishing you a good afternoon.
