Over the next several days the temperatures are forecasted to rise into the 90's. Today through Sunday, the heat index could reach 100-110 degrees. It is anticipated that Air quality may also be poor which may be dangerous for people with asthma or heart and lung issues.
The Delaware County’s Office of Services for the Aging has put their Heat Plan in effect. The plan can be found at the following link.
The Upper Darby Senior Center 326 Watkins Avenue Upper Darby and the Pilgrim Gardens Senior Center 1074 Pontiac Road will be open Monday thru Friday 8 AM to 9 PM and Saturday and Sunday 9 AM to 4 and the Pilgrim Gardens Senior Center 1074 Pontiac Road PM Monday thru Friday 9 AM to 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday 9 AM to 4 during this period of extreme heat.
Please be sure to identify and check on any at-risk relatives or friends in preparation for this first heat wave of the season.
