Effective January 24, 2013, the Covered Device Recycling Act of 2010 will go into effect. This law passed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly refers to the disposal of televisions, desktop computers, laptop computers, computer monitors and computer peripherals. The law specifically prohibits these items from beginning disposed of in the regular municipal or commercial solid waste trash collection.
Residents wishing to dispose of these items should contact electronic retailers regarding their recycling programs or participate in local Electronic -Waste Programs. You may also contact Upper Darby Township Public Works Department for more information on disposal. (610) 734-7713.
Upper Darby Township is working on scheduling additional disposal dates and locations. The Township will make the appropriate announcement at a later date.
