Property Maintenance is a division of the Administrative Services Department which instills the quality of housing in all neighborhoods throughout the township. This is accomplished by using a select group of code enforcement officers who interact on a daily basis with the publicís concerns and requests.

This is done both on a proactive and reactive basis with each and every house in the township, which consists of approximately 28,000 homes and 150 miles of streets. Each code enforcement officer conducts on a daily basis inspections on properties within the boundaries of the township for the purpose of determining and enforcing whether property maintenance violations exist.

The job of the Assistant Director of the Property Maintenance is two fold. The first part is to maintain the integrity of all neighborhoods throughout the township. The second part is to protect the publicís safety and welfare in all existing structures. Both phases of the job are enforced by standards set forth by the BOCA National Property Maintenance Code.

Codes and Regulations enforced by the Property Maintenance Department

  • All phases of property maintenance inspections on all dwellings both the interior and exterior.
  • High grass and weeds.
  • Trash and debris.
  • Vacant/abandoned houses.
  • Potholes.
  • Curbs, sidewalks, driveways and aprons.
  • Stagnant water.
  • Dangerous/hazardous trees and shrubs.
  • Abandoned vehicles.
  • Snow removal.
