Emergency Management comprises organized analysis, planning, decision making, and assignment of available resources to mitigate (Lessen the effect of or prevent), prepare for, respond to and recover from the effects of all hazards/emergencies.
The goals of Emergency Management are;
There are four phases of Emergency Management
In 1980, William J. Gaul Jr. was appointed as Upper Darby Township’s Emergency Management Coordinator by Pennsylvania’s Governor Richard Thornburgh. Mr. Gaul continues to serve in that capacity.
In 2004, Mr. Gaul and Mr. Fiorito formed the Eastern Delaware County Emergency Management Council. This council consists of all Emergency Management Coordinators in Eastern Delaware County. This council meets quarterly to discuss training issues and how municipalities can assist one another during emergencies.
Additional meetings are held by the Delaware County Emergency Management Center every fifth Monday during the course of the calendar year.
