The Electrical Department is responsible for the repair and the maintenance of all the traffic signals and traffic signal controllers in the Township. It is responsible for the entire street lights system, replacing burned out bulbs, replacing defective light fixtures and replacing damaged street light poles.

The Department is also responsible for the repair and maintenance of the School 15 MPH flashing warning signals as well as for the flashing dangerous curve warning signals. The Electrical Department also maintains the electrical systems for all of the Township owned property.

The Director shall be responsible to the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer of Upper Darby Township. The Director is responsible for working on the Department budget and staying within the budget. He attends all meetings with Township officials and meetings with all other agencies.

The Director is responsible for reviewing all blue prints and specifications and for keeping up with the most modern and cost saving equipment for traffic signals and street lighting and for ordering all materials for the department. He also assigns the day to day work that has to be performed.
