The Upper Darby Township staff started snow removal activities at 7 AM today salting the roadways. The staff began plowing the roadways around 12:30 PM when the snow accumulation reached approximately 3 inches. Township staff will continue to work throughout the night on their snow removal efforts. Please keep in mind that the salt on the street becomes less effective when the temperature drops below 20 degrees.

The sanitation staff was able to pick up the planned trash and recycling route scheduled for today Tuesday January 21, 2014. Tomorrow January 22, 2014 we are schedule to pick up the trash normally assigned for Monday (area 4 & 6), we will attempt to pick up this trash. The recycling scheduled to be picked up tomorrow in area 3 will not be picked up. We ask residents to hold this recycling to Monday January 27, 2014. The specific locations for these areas can be found on the Township web site or on the trash calendar. Please understand that some alleyways scheduled for trash pick-up may not be passable and we will not be able to pick-up the trash in these locations.

Emergency situations should be reported to the police and fire by calling 911.
