by the Upper Darby Township Department of
Leisure Services and funded in part by the
Delaware County Office of Services for the
Aging (COSA) and Upper Darby Township.

Dear Neighbor:
Since 1975 Upper Darby has been providing a senior center for all residents who qualify. Over 500,000 people have taken advantage of our services. Our center's mission and goal is to provide meaningful services to our seniors including social, recreational, physical, nutritional, and government resources in order to enhance their their life style.
Our guests represent a diverse and multi-cultural segment of our community . The age varies from fifty five years young and up, ensuring everyone will develop relationships with friends and neighbors.
Whether you are enjoying a breakfast snack, hot or cold lunch, entertainment, or any other of the many benefits you are welcome for an hour or a day.
We are proud of our staff and partnership with the County Office of Services for the Aging which provide a safe and rewarding experience for one and all. Our volunteers are also a source of pride which ensures a value added benefit of one on one attention.

WHO QUALIFIES
Everyone 60 years of age and over. Those under 60 will not be subsidized for activities or programs. Qualifying for specific benefits is required for some services.

What
Your Senior Center Provides Services
Senior Citizens can rely on
their centers providing basic amenities
such as: lighting, heat in the winter,
air conditioning in the summer, daily
hot meals (RDA approved), and daily
delivered homebound meals.
Other services include: coffee &
tea (iced tea in summer), barber shop
(licensed barber), hairdresser (also
licensed), shopping bus, sale table,
twice a week (many bargains), travel
desk (day & longer), income tax
assistance, legal advice &
counseling (lawyers available if
needed), bereavement group, nursing
service (twice a week), and health
seminars.
Recreational
Activities
Senior Citizens can rely on
their centers providing daily
recreational activities such as: Bingo,
library ( with large print books &
20 magazine subscriptions), card tables
(cards supplied - straight &
pinochle), color TV w/ remote and
comfortable seating, and three
regulation size pool tables
Other recreational activities
provided include: Arts & Crafts
(twice a week), Ceramics, Art Class,
Safe Swimming Class, Tai-Chi, Chair
Exercise, Bridge Club, Video Tapes
(twice a week), Piano Rambling &
Sing a long, Round Dancing, Line
Dancing, Sunday Dance (once a
month).
Dinners and parties are also held on
numerous occasions: Monthly Birthday
Party with Ice Cream & Cake, St.
Patrick's Day Party, Halloween Party,
Christmas Dinner & Dance, and
Annual Volunteer Dinner. |
