Pre-Registration is required.
The workshop will provide a brief overview of the rainwater cycle, the importance of storm water management at the property level, and how to install and use a rain barred. At the completion of the workshop, the first 50 households that pre-register for the seminar will be given a free 54 gallon Spruce Creek rain barrel.
| A rain barrel collects and stores stormwater runoff from rooftops. By temporarily holding the stormwater runoff during a rain event, you can help add capacity to the city's sewer system and reduce sewer overflows to our creeks and rivers, our drinking water source. Also, the collected rain water lawns, gardens, window boxes or street trees. |
The Rain Barrel Workshop is a project of the Darby-Cobb's Watershed Partnership, whose mission is the protection and enhancement of the Cobbs Creek and its watershed. Financial sponsorship is being provided by the Philadelphia Water Department. The Water Department and Fairmount Park will be redirection stormwater runoff into green spaces and restoring the creek itself over the next two decades. Your participation in this workshop will assist us with making this project a sustainable success. |
This workshop is being sponsored by the Philadelphia Water Department in partnership with The Darby-Cobb's Watershed Partnership, Weed & Seed Program of Upper Darby Township, Upper Darby Township, and Millbourne Borough.
