Expanded Recycling Program

I am pleased to announce the Upper Darby community continues to support a strong recycling program. In 2009 the community recycled 3,593 tons, in 2010 we increased this figure to 4,153 tons.

As you know, January 1, 2009 the township moved from a co-mingled recycling program to a single stream program and expanded the products that can be included for recycling. In June 2009 we moved to once a week collection of the recycling product township wide. The township continues to work on the recycling collection program to improve and close the collection voids associated with the holidays.

I am pleased to announce, effective immediately, the recycling program is being expanded to include plastic and food beverage containers marked #4, #5 and #7. This flyer, identifies all recycling products that can be included in the township's recycling program.
