Following is the list of officers that received commendations and awards at a ceremony held Monday, December 5, 2011. This year's awards ceremony was held at the Upper Darby High School Performing Arts Center.

Commendation of Bravery

Captain Anthony Paparo, Officer Jeffrey Thrash, Officer Samuel Sproull

For safely disarming and apprehending a mentally ill person who was in possession of a firearm.

Officer David Snyder, Officer Randy Desrosiers

For their response to an armed suspect who had committed a series of robberies one evening.

Life Saving Award

Officer Thomas Hald, Officer Brian Wearshing

For extracting a person from a wrecked vehicle and providing life saving efforts until medics arrived.

For resuscitating a seven year old boy who was in cardiac arrest.

Commendation of Merit

For their work in the arrest of five individuals who had gone on a robbery spree.

Officer Thomas Fitzpatrick

During a recent hurricane, Officer Fitzpatrick recognized a hazardous, downed electrical wire that would have meant certain death for anyone approaching it.

For the apprehension and arrest of three males in connection with a violent street robbery.

Criminal Investigator William Sminkey and Criminal Investigator Brad Ross

While serving a warrant in the City of Philadelphia, the two investigators were rammed by another vehicle and took action to ensure their personal safety and the safety of their prisoner.

Criminal Investigator Matthew Rowles, Officer Wayne Whitlock, Officer Thomas Fitzpatrick

For their investigation into a fatal vehicle accident.

Officer Steven Russo with his K9 partner Spike, and Officer Riocard Russel

For their work in tracking and apprehending a suspect who had burglarized someone’s home.

Officer Kevin O’Gara

Due to diligent patrol work, Officer O’Gara located a male wanted for homicide and aggravated assault.

Criminal Investigator Kevin Dinan

Through persistent investigation, Criminal Investigator Dinan arrested a subject who had sexually assaulted multiple victims.

For their efforts in a homicide investigation outside of a local bar which led to the arrest of the actor.

Officer Samuel Sproull with his K9 partner, Massai,and Officer Stephen Ford

For the observation and apprehension of a male wanted for attempted homicide out of Philadelphia and for attempting to commit a felonious home invasion.

Officer Sean Kenny and Officer Francis Devine

While on patrol officers observed and apprehended a subject who was about to commit a street robbery. The officers recovered a firearm on the subject’s person.

For the apprehension of a subject who had been in the process of committing a burglary.

Officer Thomas Hald with his K9 partner, Rex

For the apprehension of a subject who committed a home invasion.

Officer Stephen Tarozzi, Officer Robert Bennett, Officer John Millison

For the apprehension of a subject who had just robbed a bank by implying he was in possession of a bomb.

Officer James Hoback

For investigating and arresting a subject who had just committed a residential burglary.

Criminal Investigator Arthur Erle, and Criminal Investigator Brad Ross

For their work in the arrest of a subject who committed an armed bank robbery.

Officer Samuel Ziviello and Officer Francis George

While on patrol these officers noticed suspicious activity that led to the arrest of two males who were in possession of drugs and a firearm.

Officer Stephen Cristinzio

While on patrol, Officer Cristinzio observed two suspicious males who had just committed a burglary.

Officer John Millison

For connecting a male to a burglary who had been arrested for an unrelated event.

For the apprehension and subsequent confession of two females connected to multiple burglaries in Delaware County.

Officer Ryan Wiseley

After receiving a radio broadcast of a serial robber, Officer Wiseley located a masked actor and took him into custody. As a result, several robberies were cleared.

Criminal Investigator Michael Pecko and Officer Jeffrey Thrash

While answering a simple shoplifting call, Officer Thrash apprehended a male who committed multiple robberies in Upper Darby. Criminal Investigator Pecko was instrumental in the investigation.

For his investigation into a robbery and shooting that led to the arrest of a suspect.

For his investigative work during an attempted homicide which led to the arrest of a violent suspect.

For their joint effort in a shooting investigation that took place at school dismissal.

For the apprehension of a suspect that dragged a police officer with his vehicle and then attempted to flee.

After locating a vehicle recently taken in a car-jacking, these officers pursued and apprehended the actor in the City of Philadelphia.

For his assistance in the investigation of a fatal car crash.

Sergeant William Bozeman and Officer Christopher Bassoline
of the Prospect Park Police Department.

For their identification of two females who were involved in multiple burglaries.

Sergeant Timothy Rockenbach
of the Clifton Heights Police Department

For locating two males who were responsible for multiple burglaries in Upper Darby.

For their assistance in the apprehension of a subject who had taken hostages within a local business.

Constable Carmen "Skip" Damiani

For his ongoing assistance to the Upper Darby Police Department.

Unit Award

For their collective work in the investigation and apprehension of two violent subjects who committed multiple shootings in one evening.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm. This group of officers apprehended the suspect and charged him accordingly.

For their efforts in tracking down a burglary suspect who had broken into a home while the owner was present.

For their collective work in the apprehension of a subject who had taken hostages within a local business.

For their work in the investigation and arrest of a violent actor who had shot a victim.

For their outstanding response to a homicide scene. These officers arrived to a chaotic scene and properly secured it and multiple witnesses.

For their collective work in locating and apprehending robbery suspects who had barricaded themselves inside a house.

For his assistance in issuing all personnel with ballistic vests.

Citizen Award

Mr. Joel Jeffries

For intervening in a pedestrian robbery and coming to the aid of a victim.

Mr. Lsmith Keo, Mr. Kareem Avery and Mr. Raymond Joseph

For coming to the aid of an emotionally disturbed subject who had lit herself on fire.

Mr. Doyne Summer

For his assistance in the arrest of a bank robbery suspect.

Ms. Lindsey Gleimi

While detectives were interviewing a special needs child, Ms. Gleimi volunteered her time to assist police.

Mr. Nashid Ali

For his assistance in the surrender of a shooting suspect.

Ms. Tracy Ashe

While on assignment as a crossing guard, Ms. Ashe smelled smoke, located an active fire, and worked to save the residents within.

Commendatory Letters

For their role in successfully assisting Philadelphia Police in serving a warrant.

For their timely response and investigation into a flash mob which resulted in the apprehension of multiple individuals.

While conducting a vehicle stop, Officer Cristinzio located a sizeable amount of illegal drugs from within the car.

For locating a large amount of illegal drugs within a car during a vehicle stop.

Officer John Millison and Officer John Redheffer

While answering a call for potential drug dealing, the officers chased the actors on foot and recovered a firearm.
